I am kind of obsessed with the Belgian Malinois. It is an extraordinary breed, and I am writing this post to share some of the reasons that I admire them so much. Let’s dive in!
1. Short hair…
This one might not be obvious to people who aren’t familiar with dogs, but it is awesome. Short hair typically means less grooming. For me, this is important because I am actually allergic to dogs. I have owned many dogs in my lifetime, and I do not have a severe allergy. However, the shorter hair makes a world of difference.
2. Tell them to jump…
This breed excels with training. A Belgian Malinois can be trained to perform amazing tasks. They are very popular dogs for law enforcement and military service. They also compete in many different sporting events, and can typically excel at any type of canine work. I don’t know if you’ve seen it, but the movie John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum features two Belgian Malinois. The film makes a point to show off some of the incredible things that these canines are capable of.
3. Healthy animals…
Due to the fact that these dogs are such common working animals, they are very carefully bred. As they are commonly used in law enforcement and military roles, it is important that the dogs remain mentally and physically sound for many years. So, Belgian Malinois that are not in good health are not bred. Over many years of this careful breeding, Belgian Malinois have become one of the healthiest dog breeds in existence.
4. Malinois… Belgian Malinois…
You’ve probably watched James Bond at least once in your life. Well, if James Bond were a dog, he would be a Belgian Malinois. They are extremely intelligent, highly capable animals. In any action movie plot line, the Belgian Malinois is the dog you’d want on your side. Check out this video to see for yourself…
