Project Update: Week 2

You may have seen my post, from about a week ago, where I introduced my project for this month. In this update I will be documenting some of the main things that I have completed for the project over this past week. Let’s dive in!

Contacting Contributors…

For this project, a very large portion of the content for the website is coming from artists who are being featured by me. So, the very first thing that I did this week was build a pitch deck style invitation, and I sent it out to the individuals that I was hoping to feature.

I heard back from several of them quickly. So, I began to put together the website.

Web Design…

I decided to use Squarespace to design and host the Clam Chowder website. I have used it before, and I am very comfortable with the platform.

I started with a random template and after about an hour I decided to scrap it. I chose a new template and started over.

Soon, I had completed the about page, and the basic structure of the website.

My next step was to create the home page of the website. This page will host a profile of that week’s featured artist. I had already selected the first individual to be featured, and collected the necessary content. So, I started the design process.

I uploaded the featured content and started organizing it.

So far I am completely done with the two of the pages of the website. Over the next two weeks I will continue to upload content and add to the structure of the website.

Monday’s Meeting…

Each Monday I meet with my assigned learning partner from 2-2:30 p.m. (EST). In our meeting this week he introduced me to something called: Monday.com. It is a cloud based to-do list. You can share your tasks with other people virtually. My partner suggested that we create a shared to-do list so that we can view each other’s progress and keep each other accountable.

Next Week…

Over the next week I will be focusing on gathering and uploading more content to the website. I will also be creating some blog series and online tutorials for the website. Finally, I will be running Facebook ads at the end of the week, and launching a landing page for the website.

I am a little nervous about the workload for the next week, but I am excited to get started with it, and see how it goes.
